Liverpool could move for Aubameyang

You can’t help feeling that it would take a very, very special player to convince Jurgen Klopp to part with a big wedge of money this summer.

With his Liverpool side going painfully close to a Premier League title, and with a Champions League trophy in the bag to secure his first piece of silverware on Merseyside, there is very little reason for the German to go all guns blazing into the transfer market this summer.

There will be parts of the squad that need tweaking here and there, no doubt, with replacements needed for the departing Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge, not to mention Simon Mignolet, who seems destined for the exit too, as reported by the Evening Standard.

But as far as jaw-dropping, eye-popping, wallet-lightening mega-deals go, it’s hard to see too many on the horizon for the Reds.

But according to a piece from Bleacher Report, Klopp could be tempted to make a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Now, admittedly, there are some conditions. For one thing, the report states that it is somewhat unlikely. For another, it would only happen if the hitman, who struck 31 times for Arsenal last season, sparked some kind of exit row with the Gunners.

So all in all, maybe don’t go whacking a fiver on it coming off, but this is exactly the kind of rumour that is sure to get pulses racing at Anfield.

With a Whoscored rating of 7.16 last season, and averaging 2.9 shots on goal per match, the 30-year-old is clearly a class act, and arguably the rarest of entities: a player who could actually improve Liverpool’s squad.
