OPINION

French publication L’Equipe, as per the Daily Record, reported on Thursday that Liverpool and Arsenal have both made contact with Ligue 1 side Lyon over young striker Moussa Dembele. The Frenchman only made the move back to his homeland from Celtic a year ago, but has made a big impression across the Channel. He scored 23 goals in all competitions for Bruno Genesio’s team this season, while bagging another six assists – all that at just 22 years of age. He’s clearly a wonderful talent, but not all of the Reds’ supporters seem convinced by his potential signing. Some, it’s true, view him as one of the best centre forwards in the world and are delighted at the prospect of signing him. Others, however, view him as being no better than Champions League hero Divock Origi. It would be harsh on the Belgian to bring in someone like Origi who would essentially be replacing him in the squad, but Dembele does appear to be a superior prospect to the Liverpool star. Still, we’ll take this link with a pinch of salt for now.
