The ongoing cycle of Liverpool being linked with Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir never seems to stop.

Jurgen Klopp has long been an admirer of the central attacking midfield player, and nearly completed the signing of the 25-year-old last year before the report of a bad knee saw the move shutdown.

Liverpool have been linked with another move for the French international this summer, but any potential move for Fekir was off the table, with the Mirror reporting the Reds have no interest in making an offer.

Calciomercato reported on Tuesday evening that AC Milan were preparing to make an offer for Fekir, with his value now only £31.3million, half of what Liverpool were quoted last season.

With three Premier League clubs reportedly holding an interest in Adam Lallana this summer, Klopp must take the plunge and sign the Lyon man who could offer much more strength in depth to his side than the England international.

Fekir would deliver much more than Lallana, who himself has had to deal with injuries this season. The Lyon midfielder has actually featured more this campaign, and when comparing their stats via WhoScored, it is clear to see the improvement the Frenchman would offer Liverpool.

The 25-year-old featured on 16 more occasions in league action and was involved in 16 more goals on top of that.

Klopp has introduced a fast-paced possession-based style that would suit Fekir perfectly at the top of a midfield three. The Lyon man averaged more shots and key passes per game last season, as well as one more dribble each outing.

Not only is Fekir superior in terms of scoring goals, but he also outperforms Lallana in creating chances – something that is perfect for Liverpool’s prolific front three.

Fekir is evidently better in all departments when launching attacks, with the most impressive stat being his consistency in delivering key passes at a high success rate.

Lallana has expressed his desire to see out the final year of his deal at Anfield, but with Fekir now available at such a low price, a move for the nine-goal playmaker would seem a no-brainer to replace a player six years his elder.

A move for the Lyon midfielder would be almost risk-free, with Lallana being the more injury prone player of the two having missed 18 games in the past year – replacing the 31-year-old with Fekir could be a masterstroke.
