Sadio Mane enjoyed his best season yet at Liverpool in the last campaign – with his importance to the team growing with each Premier League campaign.

In the 2017/18 season, the Senegal forward played in the shadows of both Mohamed Salah (32) and Roberto Firmino (15) who both outscored Mane, who could only manage 10 league goals for the Reds.

Compare that to this season, and the Anfield winger has improved dramatically – in a campaign which has seen his importance raise significantly.

The 27-year-old more than doubled his goal tally in the Premier League, sharing the Golden Boot award with Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (22).

His pace and trickery were pivotal in his side’s Champions League success, as he guided Jurgen Klopp’s men through their semi-final comeback at Anfield against Barcelona.

After a great year at Anfield, Mane believes he can get even better under Klopp in the years to come.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the winger said: “It was positive because I can say I improved every season, which is important in my development. I will try to work harder and harder to get better and better.”

Should this be the case and Mane is to improve, he will no doubt cement his place as one of the world’s best forwards. The Red’s flyer surely has all the attributes to keep improving after his finishing certainly went up a level in the recent campaign.

Mane’s importance is there for everyone to see. His average of 1.3 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game is only bettered by Salah, as the 27-year-old became more important than Firmino, who somewhat failed to deliver the same standards as years gone by. [WhoScored]

The added responsibility has definitely been embraced by the £100,000 per-week man [Spotrac], who now attracts 1.8 fouls per game when running at opposition defences, a stat which is miles better than second-placed Fabinho (1.1). [WhoScored]

Should Klopp continue to put more responsibility on Mane’s shoulders, he will soon start to reap the benefits, with the Senegalese forward destined to become one of the most desirable attackers in world football.
