Many Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to slate Roberto Firmino’s performance after he missed a penalty in Brazil’s Copa America quarter-final clash against Paraguay. The tie had gone to a penalty shootout, and the attacker wasted his chance to net his penalty by sending it wide of the left post. And the fans are right to criticise Firmino. It really was a dreadful penalty, you could see it in his face that he knew it was a bad miss. On the flipside, though, there are some fans who make a great point when they say that Firmino is not accustomed to taking spot-kicks for the Reds, and so was probably short of practice. Either way, you should always be prepared for big moments like those in tournaments like the Copa America, and unfortunately Firmino didn’t look ready. But it was all fine in the end, as Liverpool keeper Alisson produced a vital save to help Brazil progress to the semi-finals.
