Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah is undoubtedly one of the finest players in world football and, Virgil van Dijk aside, the most important player at the club.

However, his latest decision on his future could rock the boat overboard at Anfield. The Daily Mirror reported last week that the Egyptian is willing to consider his future on Merseyside come the end of next season.

The 27-year-old was thought to be tempted by a potential switch to Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid and Italian champions Juventus this summer, but ultimately decided to remain where he is. However, his stance could change in a year’s time.

Now, that is about as worrying a piece of news as a Liverpool fan could get. Salah is indispensable, the team’s most gifted attacker and the Premier League’s top scorer – joint this year – for the past two campaigns.

There’s no doubt that he is good enough to enjoy a starring role in Madrid or Turin, but if he were to do so it would leave a phenomenal hole in the Reds team that wouldn’t be easy to fill. In fact, it would be darn near impossible.

Jurgen Klopp has youngster Rhian Brewster at the club, who he is thought to have high hopes for, but in no way is the 19-year-old a replacement for the imperious Egyptian.

Ultimately all Liverpool can do is hope that Salah considers his future in a year but then decides to stay where he is. Why would he want to leave, though? He’s just won the Champions League, while going extremely close to securing the Premier League title as well?

Madrid, on the other hand, are in full blown rebuild mode, while Juventus ease to the Serie A title every year but cannot seem to get over the hump in Europe.

Despite that, though, the attacker is ready to mull his future and potentially leave Klopp’s team. That is extremely dispiriting news for the Reds faithful.
