Liverpool attacker Rhian Brewster sent a message to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after the Reds defeated Tranmere.

The 19-year-old Reds forward spent the majority of his 2018/19 campaign on the sidelines with an ankle injury, while Oxlade-Chamberlain was also on the injury list as he missed the majority of his latest season due to a knee injury.

However, both players featured in the Reds’ first pre-season friendly of the summer against Tranmere on Thursday with Jurgen Klopp’s side securing an emphatic 6-0 win.

As a result, Brewster sent Oxlade-Chamberlain a four-word message alongside pictures from Thursday game as well as a snap from when the pair were both injured, to highlight the journey they had been on.

“Been a long wait bro,” wrote the Liverpool forward on his Instagram stories.

OPINION

Oxlade-Chamberlain and Brewster hopefully have big seasons ahead of them at Anfield and it’s good to see both fully fit again after long spells on the sidelines. Both looked sharp during the friendly against Tranmere, and Brewster was even able to score a brace in order to stand out during the match. The Liverpool teenager is yet to feature for the senior side, but that may all change in his upcoming season. When you consider that Brewster has already gotten his pre-season off to the best start possible by scoring; then surely he is ready to pick up the gauntlet the Reds manager has clearly dropped. The 19-year-old scored five goals while assisting seven during his 11 appearances in the Premier League 2 in his 2017/18 campaign and if he can transfer his prolific form to senior level, he could be a real asset.
