Former Republic of Ireland international Tony Cascarino has claimed that Liverpool have a Harry Kane-type problem in the transfer market.

The Reds have a very settled team these days and, after securing the Champions League trophy last time out, but Cascarino feels that they do have an issue signing players.

“Any player who wants to go to Liverpool will be thinking of the three positions up front that are not up for grabs,” he told talkSPORT [28/07; 07:59].

“It’s the Harry Kane scenario times three at Anfield,” he finished.

OPINION

It’s hard to disagree with what Cascarino is saying, here. Liverpool have a front three that is firmly entrenched as the starting trio. Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are not really going to be shifted by anyone that the Reds could realistically bring in to compete with them. They have the most fearsome frontline in Europe – or at least joint with Barcelona’s trio of Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann and Lionel Messi – and so when you’re considering buying a new attacker Jurgen Klopp has to ensure he convinces said attacker that he is going to play despite the presence of the aforementioned trio at the club. Luckily, he already has Divock Origi and starlet Rhian Brewster who can come into the team and make an impact. But the situation the Reds are facing is similar to what Spurs have with Kane. They arguably have the finest centre forward in world football, and so how do you convince a forward to join when they know they’ll be playing second fiddle to him?
