“The facts are there for everyone to see that at the moment they are two of the best players in the world and their contribution to Liverpool both domestically and continentally cannot be underrated.”

OPINION

Diouf may have a point with his high praise of Salah and Mane, as they’re definitely players who should be considered among the world’s best. Salah has been a revelation at Anfield ever since joining the Reds from AS Roma and his footballing CV justifies Diouf’s praise. The 27-year-old not only helped the Reds win the Championship League in his latest campaign but he was also named African Footballer of the Year in 2017 and 2018. Salah also has won the Premier League’s Golden Boot in his 2017/18 campaign as well as in the 2018/19 season (Source: Transfermarkt). As for Mane, he also is credited with winning the Premier League’s Golden Boot in his latest season and also played his part in the Reds’ recent Champions League success. The Senegal international also could add further silverware to his trophy cabinet before the 2019/20 campaign begins as his nation have a real chance of winning the African Cup of Nation as they have made the final.
