Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria is in advanced talks with Championship side Reading about returning to the club this summer, according to Football Insider.

The outlet claims that the 21-year-old is in negotiations to return to the Royals on a season long loan after being omitted from the Reds’ Under-23s side for their friendly game on Sunday.

A source close to Jose Gomes’s side revealed that the second tier side are very confident about getting the Englishman back to the Madejski Stadium this summer.

OPINION

This seems to be a deal that is pretty nailed on to happen this summer. Reading had been under a ‘soft’ transfer embargo from the Football League, but it’s thought that has now been lifted, meaning that they can once again sign new players. They appear to have got to work quickly with Ejaria, with advanced talks having already taken place. The Royals are thought to be confident of getting the youngster back to the club, and why wouldn’t they be? He had a positive spell with the team during the second half of last season, getting his confidence back on track after an up-and-down stint with Rangers earlier in the campaign. He wasn’t one of the young players, like Rhian Brewster, Ryan Kent, Harry Wilson and Nathaniel Phillips, who Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp took on his pre season tour of the United States, indicating that he is not someone the German has first team plans for next term. It would appear, then, that Ejaria is destined to return to Reading in the very near future.
