Liverpool re-signing Phillipe Coutinho would be an “absolute no brainer”, according to Scouse impressionist Darren Farley.

The Reds have been touted as a possible destination for the Brazilian this summer, as reported by Calcio Mercato, with the 27-year-old having failed to have the impact he was expected to at Barcelona since completing a £142 million move from Anfield in 2018.

And internet star Farley has claimed that he would love to see the £200,000-a-week star [Express] back on Merseyside.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, he said: “Would have Coutinho back tomorrow.

“Absolute no brainer.

“Think it’s very very possible he will be back in a Liverpool shirt next season”.

OPINION

Not every Liverpool fan will share Farley’s enthusiasm, for a Coutinho return, but you have to understand where he is coming from. The Brazilian broke Kopite hearts everywhere when he forced through his move to Spain, and for a fanbase as loyal and passionate as Liverpool’s, it would be understandable if they struggled to take him back. That being said, if a player of Coutinho’s talent becomes available, how are you supposed to turn him down? He may not have hit the heights that he was expected to at Barca, but he still managed a pass completion rate of 87.9 % last season, not to mention 2.5 shots per goal and 1.3 key passes per game [Whoscored]. The 27-year-old is still world class, and bringing him in as another option to compliment that fearsome Reds frontline would be, as Farley puts it, a “no-brainer”.
