Burnley goalkeeper Joe Hart sent Liverpool midfielder James Milner an Instagram message to share his support for him.

The Reds midfielder had previously taken to his verified Instagram account to post a clip of himself running through the hills of Spain before returning to Melwood to take part in pre-season training.

“Back to Melwood tomorrow and I can’t wait to get away from these Harrys & onto some flat ground!!” wrote Milner.

Milner’s post saw Hart send the 33-year-old midfielder a one-word message, via his Instagram account, saying “Inman” which was his way of saying get in.

OPINION

Hart taking the time out to send Milner a supportive message is rather sweet in many ways as the 32-year-old has his own pre-season to worry about. The Burnley keeper knows he needs to impress Sean Dyche in pre-season as he ended his 2018/19 campaign stuck on the bench. Hart played 19 times for Burnley in the Premier League in his latest season, conceding 41 goals and keeping only four clean sheets. The 32-year-old’s performances ended up seeing him dropped from Burnley’s starting line-up, he didn’t feature in any of their last 19 league games of the season. Given that he is no spring chicken, you feel he will want instantly back in Dyche’s first-team plans otherwise he may have to consider a move away. As for Milner, his future at Anfield looks as bright as ever. The 33-year-old featured 32 times during his 2018/19 campaign, racked up five goals and registered four assists. Milner also had an impressive pass success rate of 84.6%, averaged a decent 0.8 shots per game, considering six of his outings were as a defender and racked up a Man of the Match award in one of his league outings (Source: WhoScored).
