Liverpool announced on their official website on Sunday that the club have secured the signing of young midfielder Harvey Elliott from Fulham. The 16-year-old makes the move to Anfield from Craven Cottage having become the Premier League’s youngest ever player last season when he came off the bench against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Clearly he is one for the future, someone with limited first team experience who can’t really be counted upon to make an impact right away. Yes, he’s extremely talented, but at the end of the day he is just 16 and so he’s not going to walk into the Liverpool midfield ahead of Fabinho, Naby Keita, James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Xherdan Shaqiri. That list tells you the scale of the challenge facing the youngster in the years to come, but there’s no doubt he has the talent to make an impact at the club. However, the team’s supporters have clearly hit the roof at this one.
