Liverpool are preparing to make an offer for Trabzonspor midfielder Abdulkadir Omur in the next few days, according to Fanatik.

The Turkish publication claims that the European champions want to bring the 20-year-old to Anfield, but there are concerns that they won’t be able to secure a work permit for him.

Omur has not yet made the required amount of international appearances to secure a British work permit, and so the Reds are planning to loan him back to Trabzonspor for another season.

The youngster is a target for several teams and the Reds want to secure his signature as soon as possible. He enjoyed a breakout campaign last time out, scoring five times and grabbing 10 assists in all competitions [Source: Transfermarkt].

OPINION

Omur certainly appears to be a worthy recruit for Liverpool, and is perhaps what the Reds are missing at the moment. By all accounts, the midfield was the weakest area of Jurgen Klopp’s team last time out, particularly in providing creativity from the middle of the pitch. Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Georgina Wijnaldum are all immensely hard-working, talented midfielders, but they don’t provide the playmaking qualities of a Kevin De Bruyne or Bernardo Silva. Omur, though, may in time have that ability to open the door of a packed defence. Registering 10 assists as a 20-year-old in an ever-improving Turkish top flight is no mean feat, especially for a team in Trabzonspor who are not one of the established big-hitters. However, the work permit is an issue. But it would be no bad thing for him to get another season under his belt before coming to Anfield. This would be similar, in a way, to what the Reds did with Naby Keita. So this, then, would appear to be a potential deal that would work for all parties.
