Liverpool will look to offload midfielder Ovie Ejaria on a permanent deal this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The regional newspaper claim on their website that the Reds’ do not wish to loan out the 21-year-old, and will not entertain any more offers for the youngster.

The Liverpool Echo reports that Championship clubs Reading and Brentford have opened talks with Liverpool over Ejaria, with Brentford having offered up to £3.5million plus add ons, a deal much preferred by the Reds.

Ejaria was reported by Football Insider on Monday to have been in advanced talks with Reading over a loan move, something that looks set to collapse, with a permanent move much more likely.

OPINION

One way or another, it seems pretty clear that Ejaria will not be at Anfield next season. Whether Liverpool do give in and let the 21-year-old leave on loan is another matter, with a permanent deal certainly the right way to go. Ejaria was omitted from the club’s trip to America this summer, with other players such as Harry Wilson and Ryan Kent given the nod to make an impact instead, which is probably the biggest clue from Jurgen Klopp that Ejaria is almost certainly set to leave permanently. After a failed loan spell at Rangers in the first half of last season, the youngster joined Reading and made a slight impact, scoring once for the Royals. Brentford is definitely his likely destination, with their reported proposed deal including both add-ons and a sell-on clause for the future. Although the England youth international averaged an impressive 2.3 completed dribbles as well as 1.8 tackles per match for Reading [WhoScored], that only proved that he is Championship level, and that is where his career will take him next, with a move down almost certain to take place.
