Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren sent Mohamed Salah a message on Instagram to share that he was missing him during pre-season.

Salah had previously taken to his personal Instagram account to joke that he was currently in pre-pre-preseason and accompanied that cheeky caption alongside a picture of himself in the gym.

“Pre-pre-preseason,” wrote the Reds attacker.

The Egyptian winger’s remarks saw Lovren amusingly wish for him to return by saying “Ple-ple-please come back” via his verified Instagram account.

OPINION

Salah hasn’t returned to Melwood for pre-season training alongside his Liverpool teammates as of yet due to his involvement in the African Cup of Nations. Salah’s Egypt were knocked out the tournament by South Africa on Saturday evening and the Reds winger was visibly upset after the final whistle. The Liverpool Echo have since reported that Jurgen Klopp is expected to give Salah three weeks holiday before welcoming him back for pre-season at the end of the month. This is good news as the 27-year-old no doubt needs time to recharge his batteries after an emotional season. Salah featured 52 times for the Reds in his latest campaign and showed how important he was to the cause by scoring 27 goals while assisting 13. For the Eqyptian winger to have any chance of repeating, if not improving, those numbers then he needs to ensure he gets plenty of rest while he can. As for Lovren, the centre-back is clearly missing his Liverpool teammate at Melwood as he returned to the club for pre-season training on Tuesday (Source: Official Liverpool).
