Alberto Moreno has delivered a five word message to former Liverpool teammate Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Spanish full-back left Anfield upon the expiration of his contract at the start of July, but has been keeping in touch with his ex-colleagues via social media.

Wijnaldum posted a photo of himself and fellow midfielder Fabinho to his personal Instagram with the caption: “Yo con el flaco”, which translates literally into English as: “I’m with skinny”.

And Moreno responded to the post with the comment: “Hablas español muy bien amigo” with a laughing emoji.

The sentence translates as: “You speak Spanish well my friend”.

OPINION

You get the impression that Moreno was a big character in that Liverpool dressing room. The Spaniard never seemed to take himself too seriously, and judging by how openly he has kept in touch with the squad since his departure, he was a popular figure too. That being said, it was the right time for him to go. Just two Premier League starts last year, yielding an average of just 1.5 tackles and one interception [Whoscored], show that it is time for the defender to move on, and at 27, he still has an awful lot to offer to a prospective suitor. No doubt he will find somewhere this summer, and chances are he will flourish there too. It;s just a shame that he couldn’t cut it on a footballing level in England, because it would seem that Moreno was a thoroughly decent guy. The Kop will remember him fondly.
