Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho heaped praise on Liverpool attacker Rhian Brewster and backed the teenager to do well at Anfield.

The Dortmund winger shared that he thought the 19-year-old was at the right club and said that with time and patience then the Reds will soon discover how good he is.

“I feel like he can do it. I have played with him. I know how good he is. He causes defenders nightmares,” said Sancho, as quoted by the Telegraph.

“He is a great player.

“I feel like he is at the right club, he is developing and he is still so young.

“He is developing and that is the main thing. Just give him the time and patience and you will see.

“I played with him a lot for England and he scored a lot of goals for us and I have assisted him. It’s a good thing for us to have someone like him. ”

Sancho then shared that he had a special connection with Brewster after being part of England’s Under-17 World Cup-winning squad in 2017 alongside him.

“We have got a special connection, you know?” added Sancho.

“We went to the Euros and then we went to the World Cup. We message each other and tell each other to keep going and keep believing.”

OPINION

Brewster is yet to make his senior debut for the Reds, but Sancho clearly believes it is a matter of when rather than if. Given that Sancho knows what it takes for a youngster to break into a big side’s first-team, seeing as that’s exactly what he has done at Borussia Dortmund, the fact he is confident about Brewster’s future at Liverpool is a good sign. It’s very likely that Brewster will get a first-team chance at the Reds in his upcoming season given that fellow attacker Daniel Sturridge left the club over the summer, and no replacement has been signed; which means there is space for the 19-year-old. Brewster scored five goals in 11 Premier League 2 appearances in his 2017/18 campaign to look like a prolific force, but his latest campaign was hit by injury. The Liverpool teen managed only two appearances in the Premier League 2 in the 2018/19 season, as an ankle injury sustained at the end of his 17/18 campaign ended up keeping him sidelined for 440 days (Source: Transfermarkt).
