Liverpool have joined Merseyside rivals Everton in pursuit of Flamengo attacker Reiner, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that Everton have approached Flamengo with an enquiry about the 17-year-old, who is highly-rated and has now attracted the attention of Liverpool, Manchester City and Barcelona.

It is understood that scouts will watch Reiner play for Brazil’s Under-17s this week when they take on Paraguay.

Reiner is captain of the Brazil Under-17 side and has scored five goals in his nine appearances at that level.

OPINION

Reiner must be a very good young player to have all of these clubs chasing his signature. Not only are Liverpool, City, Everton and Barca interested in him but the Mail also claims that AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund are also hot on his heels. Reiner won’t be able to move to Europe until he is 18-years-old but luckily that means he will be available to join one of these clubs in January. Liverpool should hope it’s them because missing out on the young attacking midfielder would more than likely mean he’d join a top side in Europe – or Everton. Either way, the Reds shouldn’t be happy to see him join one of those sides because he seems like a player who will improve and improve as the years go by to the point where his transfer value is very high. Based on his performances for Brazil’s Under-17s, someone who is going to get themselves a very good player for the future if they can lure him away from Flamengo.
