It can be hard to wade through the layers and layers of nonsense that swirl around during the summer transfer window.

With fans desperate to hear any kind of news on their side pulling off a major deal, and with news outlets just as desperate to provide them with every minute detail to boost their readerships, it doesn’t take long for the waters to get very, very muddy.

And increasingly, with the rise of social media, that level of intense scrutiny spills out beyond the confines of the game as a professional entity.

Players’ every moves are tracked and reported, and the littlest change in their lifestyle can become the first sign of a major upheaval.

Some changes feel more significant than others though, and the latest update eon Phillipe Coutinho will no doubt get tongues wagging.

According to Spanish radio station Sin Concesiones, the Brazilian has taken his children out of the school that they were enrolled in in Barcelona.

Whether that means he is wanting to better their education elsewhere, or whether it is the first step towards a move away from the city is obviously difficult to say, but at this stage, you wouldn’t be surprised if it was the latter.

The 27-year-old, who Sin Concesiones claim is available for £89.4 million, has been heavily linked with a move back to Liverpool this summer, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, as he struggles to impress over in Spain.

And while he may have left the Reds in acrimonious circumstances, it would be hard to say no to re-signing a player who still managed a pass completion rate of 87.9% and an average of 2.5 shots on goal per game, even during a relatively poor season last time out [Whoscored].

It could be entirely significant, but this latest update should have the Kop on red alert.
