Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Liverpool winger Ryan Kent will only leave Anfield this summer if another club agrees to a permanent deal.

The Reds’ boss delivered his verdict after Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat to Napoli on Sunday, claiming that the 22-year-old’s time for loans is over.

Speaking to the BBC on Sunday, Klopp said: “His time is over for loans.”

“At the age, he is now, he needs to find a place where he can settle. We will see what happens but a loan is not planned.”

Championship side Leeds were reported by Football Insider to have been interested in bringing the electrifying winger to Elland Road on loan, with Rangers also renewing their interest after a successful year at Ibrox for the 22-year-old in the last campaign.

Kent’s spell at Rangers was the fifth loan of his Liverpool career, with Klopp revealing that is more than likely his last while he is at Anfield.

OPINION

It comes as no real surprise that Klopp has put a stop to Kent being on a constant loan merry-go-round. The 22-year-old has never really been given the chance to impress at Liverpool, and next season could the perfect opportunity for the youngster to do just that. His speed and trickery would be an asset for any side at any level, and Liverpool could take full advantage of that in the Premier League, with opposition defences rarely seeing what he can do in the top-flight. Kent won the PFA Scottish Premier League Young Player of the Year award last season and proved he can provide both goals and assists under Steven Gerrard. Despite struggling elsewhere, Kent matured at the Gers, being involved in 15 goals in his 43 appearances. Klopp has given the youngster a chance during pre-season, especially in their tour of the USA, where he featured in all three games for the Reds. The German has been smart with his assessment of the young forward and could use him to his strengths next season if he is smart enough.
