Fabinho has been a real asset for Liverpool since joining them from Monaco last season and it would seem as though he has hit a good run of form in the Reds’ pre-season schedule after a good display against Sporting CP in a 2-2 draw at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night. Fabinho, 25, bossed the midfield against Sporting and understandably left a lot of Liverpool fans impressed with his performance on Twitter – one even claimed that the Brazilian midfielder was man of the match. Fans cannot get too excited by Fabinho’s displays in the pre-season though because these games do not matter and there is no pressure attached to them. It goes both ways as it’s not worth destroying players for their performances in friendlies, so it’s also not worth getting too excited by someone who has played well in the same match. Ultimately these games are there to build up match fitness and for Jurgen Klopp to experiment with tactics and fringe players.
