Jurgen Klopp has put together a squad at Liverpool that is capable of consistently challenging for both domestically and in Europe – as proven in their Champions League success. That would lead to the expectation that not much strengthening needs to take place. Youthful incomings will allow Liverpool’s academy to grow and give Klopp many more options to bring them into the first-team setup throughout the season. That doesn’t mean that some of the club’s younger players will all be given opportunities – and the harsh reality will be that some will have to move on. The Times journalist Paul Joyce revealed on his personal Twitter account that CSKA Moscow had made an enquiry for the Reds’ youngster Taiwo Awoniyi, and had been reportedly quoted £15million. Awoniyi did impress on loan at Belgian side at Excel Mouscron, scoring 14 goals in 38 appearances – but let’s be honest, 14 goals isn’t enough to make an impact on the senior squad, and should any club come with an offer of anywhere near £15million, Liverpool must snap that hand off and run. Many Liverpool fans reacted to Joyce’s tweet with great joy, praising Michael Edward’s in particular for his ability to bring in that type of fee.
