When Phillipe Countinho left Liverpool in the January of 2018, there were a lot of fans who wondered how the club were going to manager without him. The Brazilian was, at that time, still the Reds’ principle playmaker, and the prospect of losing his creative talents filled many with dread. Jurgen Klopp’s men reinvested the £142 million fee wisely, however, and with the newfound defensive solidity brought in with Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker, the Reds have actually looked a lot more like an elite side since Coutinho left. For his part, the Brazilian has endured a pretty mixed spell in Spain. He has never quite managed to replicate the impressive form that saw him force through his move in the first place, and if a report from the Express is to be believed, he could be on his way out of Barca this summer. And that’s where Liverpool come back into things. Anfield is touted as a potential destination, and the latest comments from Coutinho’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, will have done little to dispel those feelings. Speaking to Sky Sports, he claimed that Liverpool are “deeply” in his client’s heart, and that he is still a fan of the club. The Kop don’t seem to pleased by the prospect of their prodigal son returning, but regardless of what has happened in the past, if he was available for the right price, how could you turn him down? You couldn’t, it’s as simple as that.
