With the brilliance of Liverpool’s prolific front three, it is sometimes hard to remember some of the Reds’ stars from the previous couple of seasons. James Milner is a player who has gone under-the-radar at times at Anfield, with the former England international epitomising what is to play for Liverpool with his grit and determination. The 33-year-old has been in inspired form recently under Jurgen Klopp and is entering the final year of his current deal at the club. Milner offers steel in defence while also contributing going forward, being one of the physically fit players Liverpool possess despite his age. The experienced midfielder averaged 1.4 tackles per game last season, as well 1.4 key passes at a success rate of 84.6% [Source: WhoScored]. On top of that, he also scored five goals and delivered four assists throughout the season. Liverpool would definitely not be the same without the hard work of Milner, who has recently admitted to The Telegraph that he is still waiting to hear from the club with regards to a new deal past this season. Many Liverpool fans took to Twitter to react to the news, with many of them begging their club to get a deal done, with one even suggesting they should offer Milner a lifetime deal at Anfield.
