It doesn’t seem two minutes ago that Jurgen Klopp was teetering precariously on the top of an open top bus tootling through Liverpool city centre, grin plastered across his face, bottle of beer in his hand, and a Champions League winner’s medal hanging around his neck. After a long and arduous season, a sixth European title was a well-deserved and much-needed reward for his side, and the hope will be that next season they can push on and go for the prize they want the most – the Premier League title. And it really won’t be very long before the madness starts up again. The Reds have shared a list of 16 players who will be returning to Melwood tomorrow to begin their preparations for the new campaign, and it’s fair to say that the prospect has made the realisation of the approaching season a lot more tangible. For many fans, however, it has also made throwing fuel on their burgeoning transfer anxieties. Apart from 17-year-old Sepp van den Berg, the Reds are yet to venture into the transfer market, and the Kop are getting restless. That being said, Klopp knows what he’s doing, and whether that means conducting business late or not at all, you have to trust in his plan.
