According to Spanish news outlet Sport, Liverpool are interested in signing Augsburg left-back Philipp Max this summer and after how well he played in the Bundesliga last season, it’s not a surprise to see many Reds fans on Twitter blown away by the prospect of a deal. However these Liverpool supporters should not get too excited by the report because Jurgen Klopp has already suggested this summer that he is happy with his squad and that he might not even sign a new left-back. While he didn’t rule out signing a new player as back-up for Andrew Robertson, the fact that no concrete efforts have been made at this stage in the summer suggests he’s waiting for a bargain or isn’t interested in anyone that’s available. Max should be someone who piques his interest, especially with a reported transfer value of £17.9million. Barcelona are also eyeing up the 25-year-old, which is yet another issue that Liverpool might have to face. Fans have every right to be excited, but they shouldn’t get too ahead of themselves.
