COMMENTARY
Some Liverpool fans slammed youngster Ben Woodburn after it was reported that he was set to join Oxford United on loan. The Daily Mail claimed that the 19-year-old winger was joining the League One side in a bid to kickstart his career, with Liverpool hoping that working with fellow Scouser Karl Robinson will see Woodburn recapture his early promise. However, it seems a section of the Anfield faithful have already thrown in the towel regarding their hopes for Woodburn’s career as many proceded to slam him for being on course to drop into League One. One Reds fan urged the club to sell the Welsh teenager, while several claimed that the teenager had gone backwards ever since emerging on to the scene. Woodburn broke Michael Owen’s Liverpool age record by scoring against Leeds aged 17 years 45 days in November 2016, yet he hasn’t really kicked on like hoped. The teenager has only made a total of 11 senior appearances for the Reds and had a terrible loan spell at Sheffield United last season as he managed only eight appearances before being sent back early to Liverpool.

Not progressed since he was 16 if anything has gone backwards. Needs a full time move tbh to start over

Nothing surprising that is his level, was never that special but our fanbase overhyped him too much.
