Liverpool are now uncertain on whether they would like to sell defender Dejan Lovren, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian outlet claim that AC Milan still hold a strong interest in the Croatian international, with a central defender their top priority this summer.

Calciomercato report that the Reds’ uncertainty is not matched by Lovren, who is suggested to want a move to the San Siro in this window, with a leading role waiting for him in Italy.

Liverpool reportedly value the £100,000 per-week defender [Spotrac] at a top figure of £22.4million, with the Italian giants ready to push through with an offer in an attempt to complete the deal this week.

OPINION

Lovren has been a good servant at Anfield since arriving in 2014 from Southampton. Having said that now is definitely the right time to let him leave the club. Should Jurgen Klopp be able to get anything higher than the £20million they paid for him, they should be delighted. To make a profit on a player aged 30-years-old after being at the club for five years is an amazing feat. The Croatian has definitely struggled to adapt to Klopp’s faster style of possession-based football in the previous couple of campaigns, only making 13 Premier League appearances last season. The 30-year-old only averaged 0.8 interceptions each game, something which could prevent the Reds from getting the ball back as quickly as possible. [WhoScored] Now is definitely the right time to move on from Anfield, especially now that Klopp has decided to sign 17-year-old Sepp van den Berg who can become the club’s fourth choice central defender with ease.
