It is hard to pick out a single area that Liverpool need to improve in after they secured their sixth Champions League trophy last season as well as only losing a single game in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp has created a side with a blend of everything, a prolific front three, a dynamic midfield, and a solid defence.

Despite this, the Reds were reported by Noticias De Gipuzkoa to be interested in Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente, who has a £44.9million release clause.

Liverpool will need to pull out all the stops to secure Llorente’s signature after Mundo Deportivo revealed that the 25-year-old is not tempted by a move to the Premier League.

The Spanish publication claim that despite both Tottenham and West Ham joining the Reds in the hunt for the Spanish international, Llorente isn’t sure the move is the right one at this stage of his career.

Llorente impressed at Real Sociedad in La Liga last season, making 21 appearances and contributing to six clean-sheets at the Anoeta Stadium.

Liverpool would need to wine and dine the former Real Madrid man to secure his services, with the club and league not as much as a draw as expected.

The 25-year-old matches up well with Liverpool’s current starting pair in defence, averaging 1.2 tackles plus 3.8 clearances per game last season, with Van Dijk making fewer tackles (1) and Matip averaging not as many clearances (3.5) in each outing. [WhoScored]

With Calciomercato reporting that AC Milan have held talks with defender Dejan Lovren over a potential move this summer, Klopp may be forced to make a move for another defender – with Llorente surely on the shortlist.

The Spaniard clearly isn’t fully set on Anfield, despite the club’s recent success, with Klopp certainly ready to wine and dine the defensive enforcer over a possible move this summer if needed.
