Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are “nailed on” to return to Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up ahead of Saturday’s clash against Arsenal at Anfield, according to The Athletic journalist James Pearce.

The former Liverpool Echo reporter claimed via a live Q&A session on The Athletic’s website on Thursday that Fabinho and Henderson were both rested when they dropped to the bench at Southampton last week, but are set to start against the Gunners.

“I think Fabinho is nailed on to come back in after being rested last weekend and the same goes for Henderson,” said Pearce.

Liverpool played Southampton just a few days after winning the Super Cup against Chelsea in Istanbul so Klopp was always expected to make changes for the trip to the south coast.

However it now seems like the Reds boss will revert to a more familiar midfield when Arsenal travel to Merseyside on Saturday.

OPINION

It is no surprise that Liverpool will be back to full strength this weekend. Klopp’s side failed to impress at Southampton last week even though they won 2-1 but it has been a strange start to the season for the European champions, who have played in the Community Shield and Super Cup finals either side of their opening win against Norwich. They were never going to pull up trees against Southampton so this weekend we will probably get a taste of what Liverpool are really like in the Premier League against one of the better sides. Arsenal have started well this term and summer signing Dani Ceballos looks like someone who the Reds will have to contain if they want to get a win. Fabinho will no doubt be tasked with that but it will take a big effort from all of Liverpool’s well-rested midfielders to get the job done against Unai Emery’s side.
