Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane was spotted in the stands at Doncaster Rovers’ 3-2 victory over Fleetwood Town on Saturday, according to Scouts in Attendance.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at the club, hitting four goals and assisting six more in the league.

The report also suggests that fellow League One sides Portsmouth and Coventry City are interested in taking him on loan.

OPINION

This certainly looks as if Kane could be on his way back to Doncaster. The youngster seemed to relish his time with Rovers, and with the likelihood of him gaining regular first team football with tehReds this season looking slim, it’s not hard to envisage him going out on loan somewhere between now and the end of the month. The transfer window is still open for League One clubs, opening up the possibility of a move, and it could prove to be a smart deal all round. There is, of course, the chance that Kane was simply watching Rovers as a fan, but it all feels a bit too convenient, and it must be a priority of Jurgen Klopp to get starlets like Kane out and playing senior football. It is the best way for them to grow as players, and as was proven by his time away last term, Kane has plenty of potential for development.
