Kevin Nolan heaped praise on Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp ahead of the Reds’ clash with Arsenal on Saturday.

The Sky Sports pundit was asked to choose a manager for the combined Arsenal-Liverpool XI he had created, and he opted to select Klopp.

When doing so Nolan shared that he thought the German boss had been a breath of fresh air since arriving at Anfield and pointed out that the manager had a great aura around him.

“It’s gotta be Jurgen Klopp, since he has come to Liverpool, he has been a breath of fresh air,” said Nolan on Sky Sports News (10:55am, Tuesday, August 20th).

“The Liverpool fans loved him, the way he has taken to the city, I just think it’s everything about him.

“His enthusiasm, you can see the lads love him, he has a great aura about him.

“So for me, Klopp, taking nothing away from Unai Emery, but it’s Klopp for me.”

OPINION

Nolan seemed in awe of Klopp when talking about him as he didn’t seem able to stop saying enough nice words. The pundit raved about Klopp’s enthusiasm, connection with the Reds, connection with the city of Liverpool and didn’t even touch on the fact that the manager guided the Reds to the Champions League trophy last season and went close to winning the Premier League. Liverpool have never won the Premier League title since the league’s formation in 1992, and the fact Klopp only missed out on guiding the Reds to the league championship by a point last season, is a testament to his talent. While the German manager’s task to succeed at Anfield is aided by having players like Alisson, last’s season Golden Glove winner, as well as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, the duo jointly won the Golden Boot alongside Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang last season, it’s still up to him to put together a team that gels well together. With Klopp at the helm once again this season, it’s fair to say Reds fans will be expecting the club’s trophy cabinet to be filled up one way or another.
