Liverpool are sympathetic over the situation young starlet Bobby Duncan finds himself in after his agent launched an explosive tirade on Twitter, according to journalist James Pearce.

The Athletic reporter claims that the Reds have no intention of issuing any sort of punishment after the 18-year-old’s representative Saif Rubie made a series of serious allegations against the club’s treatment of the player, which the youngster then retweeted on Wednesday.

It is stated that the club still hold Duncan in extremely high regard as a professional and that they believe there is still a way back for him despite his agent’s suggestion he would be looking to force his way out of Anfield.

The report goes on to say that Liverpool view Duncan as poorly advised but that they are not willing to back down to Rubie’s demands over a potential move away from the club.

Opinion

There are so many unanswered questions over this whole situation that you do not know where to start. Duncan can consider himself a little fortunate that he has not come under fire from the club after retweeting the statement from his agent, which makes several shocking and disparaging claims about his time at Anfield. At 18-years-old, there is the possibility he has been a little bit naive with his decisions and it should be up to his agent to advise him. Unfortunately for Duncan, it appears his agent is also a little rash and has put his client’s future at risk with his inflammatory statement. Liverpool will want to pour water onto the fire brewing behind the scenes and the only way to do that is to sort out the youngster’s situation. The club obviously feel he has a future on Merseyside and the player would be well advised to try and make a claim for first-team football. He does not want a reputation hanging over him like a grey cloud, especially if he needs to forge a career elsewhere.
