Alan Shearer has named Liverpool duo Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold in his Premier League team of the week.
The pair both starred in the Reds’ 3-1 win over Arsenal on Saturday evening, with Salah scoring a brace and Alexander-Arnold providing the assist for Joel Matip’s opener.
The result now means that Jurgen Klopp’s men are the only side left in the Premier League with a 100% record after three matches, meaning they hold a two point lead over last year’s champions Manchester City.
Shearer named his team of the week via the Premier League’s official Twitter account.

OPINION
To be fair, any number of Liverpool’s side could have made it into the team this week. Alongside Alexander-Arnold and Salah, special mention should be given to Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson, who both put in assured and dependable displays that ultimately provided a foundation for the Reds to coast to victory. Salah was superlative, and his second strike in particular will be a goal of the month contender without a shadow of a doubt. But as for Alexander-Arnold, he still looks as if he can go up a gear or two. His set-piece delivery to Matip makes it two assists in three Premier League matches this season, but his pass completion rate is still just 69.6%, as per Whoscored. Make no mistake, he is still pulling strings, as is shown by his average of 3.7 key passes per match, but if he could combine that creativity with a little more consistency, then we could be looking at a season in which he really stamps his mark on the Premier League.
