West Ham attacker Robert Snodgrass sent Liverpool defender Andy Robertson a message in order to congratulate him on his part in the Reds’ 2-1 win over Southampton.

Robertson took to his personal Instagram account after Liverpool’s victory over the Saints to celebrate his side getting all three points, as he claimed St Mary’s was a tough place to go.

“Big result at a tough place! Away fans, thank you, #YNWA,” wrote the Reds left-back.

Robertson’s post saw Snodgrass send him a three-word message on Instagram in order to say well done.

“Well done pal,” said the Hammers winger via his verified Instagram account.

OPINION

Robertson had a solid game against Southampton and did his part in helping Jurgen Klopp’s side achieve a narrow win. The 25-year-old averaged a rating of 7.32 in the clash with the Saints, as per WhoScored, and was his usual reliable self. Robertson caused the Saints problems when charging forward, but ensured he got himself back in position in order to deal with Southampton’s attempts to earn a point from Saturday’s match. The only disappointment for Robertson was that he was unable to get his first league assist of the season. The 25-year-old is yet to register an assist after the first two league games, and you feel he is no doubt eager to create a goal sooner rather than later. This is because Robertson is no doubt aiming to improve on the 11 assists he racked up in his 36 outings last season. The 25-year-old’s 11 assists saw him finish fifth in the Premier League’s assist charts last season, as per the Premier League, and it’s worth noting that he ended up with one less assist than teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold. Robertson has already admitted, in an interview with the Reds’ official website, that he has a friendly competition with Alexander-Arnold regarding assists, so considering he lost to him last season, he is likely eager to get the better of the 20-year-old this season.
