Jonathan Walters claimed that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had gone up in his estimations due to reportedly sending Harry Wilson a message after scoring for Bournemouth.

Daily Telegraph journalist John Percy claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that the Liverpool boss sent Wilson a selfie of himself clenching his fist alongside a message which celebrated the winger getting off the mark for Bournemouth.

Kelly Cates then told Walters about Klopp’s apparent gesture and the former Stoke City forward claimed that he liked that sort of thing and that his opinion of the Reds boss had now improved.

“I like that,” said Walters on Liquid Football (YouTube, 5:40).

“He’s gone up a little bit more in my estimations now.”

OPINION

Klopp keeping in contact with Wilson is classy, so it’s no wonder Walters is impressed. Sometimes you feel that when a club the size of Liverpool loan out a player that the player who has departed is kind of forgotten about until he returns, but it seems Klopp is keeping an eye on Wilson. While the 22-year-old’s goal for Bournemouth in the Cherries 2-1 win over Aston Villa was helped by a huge deflection, it does seem like his loan spell has begun in the best possible way. After all, Wilson will likely gain confidence from getting on the scoresheet. The 22-year-old had five shots at goal against the Villans, showing how lively he was, had a pass completion rate of 90.5% and averaged a rating of 7.19, which was good considering he was subbed off on the 75th-minute mark (Source: WhoScored). So with that in mind, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Klopp continues to keep an eye on Wilson in the coming week as if he proves he can cut it into the Premier League, he might note him down as a player he can utilise next season.
