Adrian Durham has delivered his verdict on Liverpool’s Premier League title bid, claiming the Reds completed a miracle last season after missing out to Manchester City.

The talkSPORT host suggested that Jurgen Klopp’s men will not be able to go through next season only losing one game, as when they did it last year it was a “miracle.”

Liverpool finished a single point behind Pep Guardiola’s side last season despite the fact that they lost three more games than the Reds – with the Merseyside club eventually drawing five more games.

Durham said on talkSPORT, that he does believe there will be a real challenge for the title, saying: “I don’t see Liverpool only losing one of 38 games this coming season.”

“I thought that was amazing from them last season, I thought almost it was a blip from them last season, given with what they were doing in the Champions League as well, an absolute miracle.”

“I think there could be a real title challenge again, hopefully, it will be as good as it was last season but I can’t see Liverpool only losing one game this coming season, and therefore I think Manchester City will win the title,” Durham added.

OPINION

Last season was most likely out of everyone’s wildest imaginations at Liverpool, everyone apart from Jurgen Klopp and his squad, who surely believed they could beat anyone on their day last season. It is rare for a side who won the Champions League were most likely frustrated with how their season panned out. Liverpool would have been distraught that they missed out on their first-ever Premier League title, but can obviously still take positives from it. The Reds now know what it will take to secure that silverware next season, and that is near perfection. Manchester City have posted just below 200 points in consecutive seasons, and Liverpool must go one step further. City were the only side to beat Liverpool last season, in a game that basically decided the whole season, and they must not fall for that again. A season is decided in all of these small moments at different stages, and Liverpool must prove that last season wasn’t a miracle and go one better next season.
