Bobby Adekanye has been granted temporary membership by FIFA after Liverpool disputed his move to Lazio in the summer, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian outlet claim that Adekanye will be available for selection for the opening fixture on Sunday, despite the matter not being fully resolved.

Calciomercato report that Liverpool believed the Italian side broke the rules by completing the free-signing of the 20-year-old, something which could have jeopardised his chances of playing at the beginning of the season.

Adekanye joined Lazio in July, after playing for the Reds’, Barcelona, Ajax, and PSV Eindhoven in his short career so far.

Liverpool only received £240,000 compensation for the promising winger when he left Anfield in the summer. They did, however, contact FIFA to look into the deal as they believed Adekanye had been ‘tapped up’ by Lazio – something which would break rules as clubs are not allowed to hold contract talks with under-23 players until their deal is completely finished [talkSPORT]. No matter if senior officials were concerned over how the deal took place, the Reds should drop their case and concentrate on their own players now, with Adekanye even admitting himself to Voetbal that his playing chances at Anfield were very limited. Given the fact he struggled for consistency in the club’s academy, it would be hard for him to justify calling for first-team football when he could earn it elsewhere. The 20-year-old only managed to score on three occasions in 13 matches for the under-23’s, and now looks set to challenge himself in Italy after the green light given to him from FIFA.
