Ryan Kent’s summer has quickly gone downhill at Liverpool.

The lightning winger has had many years completing loan spells away from the Reds, as he looks to make himself a regular in the senior set-up under Jurgen Klopp.

Kent got the chance to impress during pre-season, featuring in the club’s tour of America and also during games against the likes of Napoli which served as a great learning curve for the youngster.

Despite being given that chance, the 22-year-old’s hopes appear extremely slim with the first-team as he has been lining up for the under-23’s at Melwood instead of for the senior team.

The club he spent last season on-loan at, Rangers, have been reported by Football Insider to have placed an offer for Kent – something Liverpool should seriously consider.

The reputable football outlet claim that the Gers have offered £6million in a loan-to-buy move that would see Kent become the most expensive player the Light Blues have had in 17 years.

Liverpool appear to be stumbling whilst considering the reported offer, with Steven Gerrard confirming to the Daily Record that the move hasn’t gone forward yet.

“I don’t really want to speak about it because nothing is happening on it,” he said.

“There’s been no change or developments since the last time we asked Liverpool and were told there wouldn’t be a loan situation. Nothing has changed on it.”

The 22-year-old has also been reported by Football Insider to be “desperate” to seal an exit from Anfield this summer, and will surely feel frustrated at the Reds’ apparent lack of interest in a deal with Rangers.

There is no need for Liverpool to be playing hardball over any potential deal, and they should speed up the process by sanctioning an exit for a player who has yet to feature in Klopp’s Premier League plans.

Kent may have impressed for Rangers with six goals and nine assists in 43 appearances, but those returns need to be doubled if he were to consistently earn a place in Klopp’s side.

With Rangers clearly waiting for a response from the Premier League side, the Reds must sanction the exit and move forward – with game time in the top-flight much harder to earn that it is in Scotland.
