Liverpool have come out on top in clashes with Arsenal over recent years.

The Reds are unbeaten in their previous eight clashes with the Gunners, with Jurgen Klopp’s men in great form in front of goal – scoring 23 goals since their last defeat in 2015.

That puts Liverpool as big favourites when they welcome Arsenal to Anfield on Saturday evening, as the only two sides with 100% records meet in the Premier League.

However, Arsenal’s start to the season appearsĀ to have gone to some of their player’s heads with a couple of them making bizarre claims before the game.

Sokratis claimed in an interview with the Evening Standard that Liverpool will be easier to defend against then Burnley – a team that Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane managed to outscore last season.

Now Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has claimed to Sky Sports that the Gunners are a completely different side this season, and doubts the result will be similar to their 5-1 thrashing against the Reds in the last campaign.

“Last year was not our finest hour but it’s very different to last season, it’s a new game and new team so I don’t see why it would be the same result,” the midfielder said.

Liverpool have averaged 15 shots on goal per game this season according to WhoScored, already significantly more than Arsenal, who have only averaged 11.5.

Guendouzi is surely kidding himself if he believes that Arsenal are a much different side this season, as they looked consistently fragile at the back against Burnley.

To beat Liverpool at Anfield you must pin them in their own half and look to build consistent pressure on their defence who look to recycle possession consistently.

Arsenal so far this season have played 34% of games in their own defensive third [WhoScored], a risky game to play against Liverpool, who can hurt you at any given time given a single misplaced pass.

The Gunners much improve even further than what they’ve shown to impress against the Reds, with Guendouzi surely kidding himself with his vision based on what Arsenal have shown so far.
