Liverpool might not have been at their absolute best against in their penalties defeat Manchester City in the Community Shield clash on Sunday, but Roberto Firmino was by far and away someone who stood out among the rest on the pitch at Wembley. A lot of Liverpool fans on Twitter noticed that as well as the Brazilian forward dictated pretty much every attacking play that the Reds had. One supporter claims that Firmino was the man of the match against City and another says that he was the Reds’ “best player”. It’s hard to disagree with either of them as Firmino had one of the better performances of his Liverpool career. It’s just a shame that the players around him weren’t as on fire as the ex-Hoffenheim forward, otherwise, the game might have led to a different outcome. It is a good sign though because at times last season, Firmino was nowhere near as good as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. If all three of them can play at their very top level next season, it could finally be the Reds’ year.
