OPINION

Liverpool are certainly being unorthodox in their approach to this summer’s transfer window. Whereas other clubs around them are going all out to bring in new faces and close the gap on teams above, the Reds are taking a much more laissez-faire stance in their business. While Manchester City, Manchester United, and even Tottenham and Arsenal are spending big in an attempt to take their squads to the next level, Jurgen Klopp’s men are posting videos of James Milner and Andy Robertson reviewing biscuits to their official Twitter account. And while some fans are urging the Reds to cut out the nonsense and get the chequebook out, others are absolutely loving this left-field content. To be fair to Robertson and Milner, they could have a career as a comedy double act when they do eventually hang up their boots. Their humour is so dry that it reminds you of an undunked Hobnob, and it really is a pleasure to watch their oddball bromance in action. On a serious note though, this kind of video provides a real insight into the atmosphere around Anfield these days. It’s almost impossible to imagine the Reds posting this kind of thing prior to Klopp coming in, but now there is a sense of camaraderie and feeling of relaxation that hints at a group of players that is tight knit and has complete faith in its own ability. Let’s just hope that by the end of the season they are still acting like the cats that got the (custard) cream.
