Georginio Wijnaldum is becoming a bit of a scapegoat among a section of Liverpool fans on Twitter who are failing to see all the good work in the side because his role is not exactly a glamorous one anymore. According to stats by WhoScored, Wijnaldum completed 98 per cent of his passes in the 3-1 win against top-six rivals Arsenal on Saturday. He also managed to fire a couple of shots at goal and make one tackle, which is not bad at all for a midfielder who has been doing the dirty work in the centre of the pitch this season. That is why it is surprising to see some Liverpool fans on Twitter tearing the former Newcastle midfielder to shreds for his performance, with one even suggesting that he should be sold to a club in the Chinese Super League. Seriously? Wijnaldum is a perfect player for Jurgen Klopp. He is the Duracell Bunny of this side, someone who never tires and gives 100 per cent every match while also being very technically gifted. Sure he will play badly every now and then – who doesn’t? Saturday was not a bad day for Wijnaldum, nor anyone else in a Liverpool shirt.
