Liverpool are on the verge of signing a new record-breaking kit deal with Nike, according to Forbes.

The business magazine claim on their website that the Reds are closing in on a deal that would become the most lucrative in the Premier League should they finalise talks.

Forbes report that Nike would start to manufacture Liverpool’s kits from the beginning of the 2020/21 season, and would end their current partnership with New Balance.

Liverpool’s deal with New Balance has just entered it’s fifth and final year and is reported by the Daily Mail to be worth a total of £45million per-year.

OPINION

This would definitely be a welcome boost for all involved at Liverpool, with surely no one disputing a potential deal that could see them become the highest earners from a kit deal in Premier League history. Any possible deal would see the Reds receive a hefty increase on their current-deal, especially when you consider Manchester United’s deal with Adidas. The Red Devils have been reported by the Daily Mail to take in £75million every season, meaning they could almost potentially double what they are currently earning at Anfield. With the same report highlighting that Barcelona are the top earners with an annual earning of £100million, it appears Liverpool’s success in recent years has put them back amongst the world’s elite since their deal with the lesser-known Warrior – a subsidiary of New Balance. Signing the deal with Nike would end a seven-year partnership with New Balance, but the Reds would be foolish not to snap the hands-off any potential deal that would significantly boost their annual income.
