Gary Neville has insisted that Jurgen Klopp must win the Premier League title this season with Liverpool.
The former Manchester United defender claimed it is the only thing left for Klopp to do to complete his reign of silverware at Anfield, with his contract set to run until 2022.
Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, the Sky Sports pundit suggested that is time for the German to lead his side to their first-ever Premier League title, before tipping them to challenge Manchester City once again.
“There’s one thing Liverpool have to do, they have to win a Premier League title,” he said.
“But obviously the Premier League is the holy grail for Liverpool, they haven’t won it for such a long time.”
Klopp guided Liverpool to 97 points in the top-flight last season, with his side only managing to lose a single game.

Even though the majority of Liverpool fans won’t want to agree with Neville given his background in the Premier League, he is spot on with his verdict. All that is left is for the Reds to finally win their first-ever Premier League title – and Klopp must be the man to deliver just that. Never have a club come so far but not achieved the success along with that, and for his side to earn 97 points and not finish top of the pile must act as motivation to go one step further this time around. Liverpool now know that they can’t draw as many games this season, and they have got off to the perfect start. Klopp’s men are the only side that have a perfect record in the league, and as long as that continues the more confidence they will gain and hopefully use to fuel their motivation and hunger. Neville is also right to predict it will be Liverpool alongside Man City who will be up at the top come to the end of the season, with Liverpool knowing that they must be near perfect to secure that title.
