Some Liverpool fans slammed defender Andrew Robertson for his performance in the 2-0 loss to Napoli on Tuesday. The 25-year-old notably was the player who gave away a penalty which allowed the Italian club to open the scoring after he was deemed to have brought down Jose Callejon. While the penalty decision was debatable, to say the least, as Robertson didn’t seem to make too much contact with the Napoli player, it didn’t stop a section of Reds supporters being unhappy with the 25-year-old’s display. One Liverpool fan claimed the left-back had an absolute nightmare on Tuesday, while another tried to excuse his disappointing display by stating that the defender looked nowhere near being fit. There was even one Liverpool fan who was so aggrieved that he wanted the defender sold after his latest display. While Robertson did make a careless mistake by dangling his foot out in the box which allowed Callejon to deceive the referee into giving Napoli a penalty, his performance wasn’t as bad as some Liverpool fans deemed it below. You feel Robertson has set such high standards for himself that one bad day at the office is harshly treated. The 25-year-old’s 2019/20 campaign has got off to a strong start in the Premier League as he has racked up one assist already across his five outings and he has sustained an averaging rating of 7.20 (Source: WhoScored).
