What a whirlwind year it has been for Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott.

The 16-year-old ended last season as a Fulham starlet who became the youngest ever player to feature in the Premier League when he came off the bench against Wolves.

That was followed by a contract dispute that led to him leaving the Cottagers, and eventually signing for the Champions League winning Reds.

Elliott was given the chance to impress in pre-season under Jurgen Klopp, and took that opportunity with both hands by being the standout player in the friendly thrashing by Napoli in Scotland.

Despite the move for the young midfielder being completed, Fulham are due compensation from a tribunal in the future, after the two clubs failed to reach an agreement in the summer.

The Times journalist, Paul Joyce revealed on his personal Twitter account on Thursday that Fulham will be seeking £7million in compensation for the signing of Elliott over the summer, a matter that will be resolved by the Professional Football Compensation Committee.

That would be a bargain fee for the 16-year-old, especially when you compare it to the £8million they paid Burnley for the signing of Danny Ings in 2016 [Independant] – a player who only went on to score four goals for the club.

Elliott made his first-team competitive debut in the Carabao Cup third round against MK Dons on Wednesday in a straight-forward 2-0 victory.

The starlet didn’t look out of place on the wing, and was a constant threat in the game, creating numerous chances for both himself and his teammates.

MK Dons couldn’t handle the exciting midfielder, and he was unlucky not to score after hitting the crossbar twice in a real breakthrough performance.

Wednesday’s impressive masterclass only highlights how Liverpool would seal a bargain if they were able to complete a deal with Fulham only worth £7million in compensation.
