Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has labelled Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah as a superstar ahead of the two clubs meeting at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Lampard highlighted how it was unfortunate that it didn’t work out for the Egyptian international at the Blues after he left the Premier League side to join Roma before his move to the Reds.

Salah has scored 75 goals in 111 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side and has formed a formidable partnership with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane in the past couple of seasons.

“Unfortunately for Mo, it didn’t work out here but it is great credit to him,” he told FourFourTwo.

“He went to Italy and then came back and now he’s a superstar.”

Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge as the only side in the Premier League with a perfect start to the season and looking to extend their winning run to 15 consecutive victories.

OPINION

There is no doubting the fact that Salah has catapulted himself amongst the world’s best since arriving at Anfield. It never worked for the prolific forward at Chelsea, and he was shipped out without being given much of a chance to impress, similar to Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne who also was sold by the Blues at a similar time. Lampard’s praise will mean nothing to Liverpool’s main man, who will be going to Anfield looking to inflict pain on Chelsea. The 27-year-old has continued his scintillating form from last season already, scoring four goals and adding a couple of assists to his name. Salah looks a threat from all areas in the final third, and averages 3.2 shots on goal and 2.2 key passes for his teammates per game according to WhoScored, proving he is never far away from being involved in a goal or creating an opportunity for one. Chelsea will be looking to nullify his attacking threat from the starting whistle on Sunday, but one lapse of concentration could see them witness the superstar that is Salah in action in front of goal.
