OPINION
Fabinho has been on another level for Liverpool so far this season and has arguably been one of the most consistent players in the squad in the opening weeks of the new campaign. He was again on form against Newcastle United in Liverpool’s 3-1 win at Anfield on Saturday, marshalling the midfield well and showing a superb range of passing. According to stats by WhoScored, Fabinho completed 93 per cent of his passes against Newcastle, 76 completed in total, which was more than any other midfield or attacking player on the pitch. Some Liverpool fans on Twitter were understandably thrilled with what they saw from the Brazilian enforcer on Saturday. As good as he was, one fan claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s 2018 signing is “quickly becoming the second-best midfielder” he’s seen play for the club. That is quite an overstatement unless that fan never got to see Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso in the heart of the Reds midfield.

Fabinho is quickly becoming the second best midfielder I’ve seen play for us. The lad is superb.

Fabinho is better than the player everyone thought Emre Can was going to become. What an upgrade.

Salah, Firmino, Mane, Robertson, Fabinho were all excellent. Trent and Ox were disappointing.

Last thoughts the game yesterday. Instantly better with Bobby linking midfield to attack. Loved Fabinho’s performance. #lfc #ynwa

Few things. Fabinho world class, Salah stay out wide. Ox coming on strong.

Fabinho was possible MOTM with Bobby , unreal player and the best DM in the business. Trent wasn't great but he's a kid and kid's are not consistent.

Fabinho is as vital to this team as anyone; constantly breaking up play or preventing a counter-attacks, tackles anything that breathes and boasts a wide range of passing ability. Beast of a player.
